Universal Sets Deal with YouTube

It looks as though Universal isn't going to fuss at folks who use music (managed by Universal) as backing to the user's videos on YouTube. How cool is that? Now, folks can dance, mime, lip-synch, and assemble video clips to their hearts' content, backed by some great music.

I have a proposal: If someone with the ability, knowledge, (and backing) please create a companion for YouTube - one where artists can upload THEIR music for use as music for videos on YouTube. I'll sign up some of my music!

Phun With Bear's PhotoBooth

Every indie artist needs good images. Well, I have none of those ;-), but this will have to do instead.

We had lots of fun with the camera, and have uploaded a few of them to my flickr.com pages.

Still and some more:

Apple has done some interesting things with a new release of iTunes (et. al.). The idea of synching one's music on one's iPod to more than one computer has been on my wish list for a long time. We have three Macs in our house - and our iPods inevitably get hooked up to the wrong Mac from time to time. Thanks, Steve Jobs for free album covers.

Independent music has been greatly enhanced by the ability to publish one's music on iTunes. There are a slew of wonderful, beautiful, and interesting indie music sites out there, but iTunes has the attention of the technologically-enabled world. Apple's attitude seems to be that indie music is as powerful and compelling as commercially-created music: this is a good thing.
